The Second ERA-CAPS joint call was launched on 14 January 2014 and was organised in two stages: first, transnational consortia could submit a pre-proposal by 18 March 2014; 140 such pre-proposals were received.

Following the  evaluation by the Review Panel,  62 consortia were invited to enter the second stage and submit a full proposal by 18 July 2014.  The full proposals will be assessed by external peer review, while the possibility of a rebuttal by the project leader exists.  After that, the Review Panel will further consider and rank the proposals based on the external reviews and rebuttals.
The final funding decision by the National Authorities is expected by early 2015.
